Tombstone.
This morning I walked around and waved to a boy standing in front of the orphanage. “Hi! Whatcha doin’?” I asked him curiously.
“I’m Kaden,” he introduced himself.
“I’m Natalie.”
“I’m checking the mailbox here,” he said and opened the mailbox, then closed it again.
“Oh cool!”
“You live round here?”
“Yeah with Miss Trin..”
“Oh super. I live up in Benson.”
“Who with?”
“Mommy is the mayor there.”
“Who’s that?”
“Lady Chipmunk Foxtrot.”
“Oh I don’t know her. Do you go to all the towns and do that?”
“Yes. There seven mailboxes around the county.”
“Wow!”
“Here, Benson, Pearce, Black Diamond, the fort, out in the canyon,” he said, counting on his fingers. He sorted through his letters again and asked, “How long ya been in Tombstone”
“Um.... a few months.”
“It a nice place long as no one be shooting at ya.”
“Uh huh there’s lots of that.”
Kaden snapped his fingers. “Bisbee thats the seventh.”
“Yeah ma sings there sometime!”
“I hope ya likin it here.”
“Yeah it’s good here. I work at the clinic with Mr. Stone.”
“That real nice.”
“Hi Miss Angel!” I waved to her as she walked towards us.
“Good morning Kaden, good morning Natalie,” she smiled.
“Hi Miss Angel,” Kaden said. “Mommy used to work lots in the clinic too but not so much anymore.”
“Ohh. Yeah I just help him with cleaning and stuff.”
“Well, I gotta get on and finish checking mailboxes. Nice meeting ya Natalie. Bye Miss Angel,” Kaden said then.
“Bye bye! I gonna go see if Ma’s awake. I’ll see you later Miss Angel!” I waved and headed off to find ma.
